Water is our lifeblood

Water is the most precious natural resource of the world. It covers 70% of the earth’s surface. But most of them are oceans and seas. Some are frozen ice caps. Fresh water is only about 3% of the earth’s water.
Water is essential for our life. Water quench the thirst of human as well as animals. We are unable to live without water. Water is useful in various ways. Water is used for cultivations. People grow grains, fruits, vegetables, flower and herbal plants using water. We need water for domestic purposes such as cooking, cleaning and washing. Without water we can’t do any industry. Water helps transportation too. Rain water and ground water helps to maintain forests.
Increasing population and expanding of cities and villages make water ways pollute. People throw garbage into rivers, cannels and lakes. Rapid industrialization makes water polluted with chemicals such as chromium, lead, iron and rust. Using fertilizers, weedicides and insecticides in paddy cultivation pollute underground water resources with various pollutant such as arsenic, urea, ammonia and phosphate. In the other hand people waste water. They open taps and let water run and don’t close it properly. In this way pure water is becoming scares.

The time has come to protect and care for our water resources. We must begin today, tomorrow may be too late. Water is our lifeblood. It is the essence of mankind. So we must conserve and protect water and our future. As children of today we have to face this challenge.
