I put some dirt in to the bottom of the pot.(stones, pieces of coconut husks, big sand particles) Those are big particles. It'a for well drainage. If water clogs in the pot, roots will rot.
Then, some good soil. This time I used soil from an old vegetable bed. There were earth worms too. That's a good sign :-)
And I checked the height. We should keep out plant about an inch below the pot's mouth.(Unless, when we water, water will overflow)
Then I filled half of the pot with that good soil again.
After that I put a potting mixture.
3 scoops of compost. (I used 3 kinds of compost - from shop, my bin no.1 and no.2)
about 2 scoops of river sand
some rock dust minerals.
about 2 scoops of coconut peat(some people call this coconut coir)
I mixed them together and I mixed some native soil too.
Then I filled the other half.
At last, I added mulch on to the top. It's important. It'll keep the moisture in your pot.
*It's not a good idea to water your plant everyday - it'll rinse nutrients in the soil.
So you need mulch. In this case I use peat of a decaying young coconut trunk. (we have to cut the tree because of a beetle attack)

some people use peat moss, but my friend Jake Mace says coconut peat is better.
*Important
We don't want to bury feeder roots. Don't cover top roots with soil. It's OK to cover them with mulch. They need more air.
